Rocking it at St. Paul’s!
Well, what a wonderful welcome Tongues of Fire received at St. Paul’s, Skelmersdale last week on the eve of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul where we reflected on the titular saint of this community.
A somewhat changed team did a wonderful job in ministering to the good people there. Everyone played their part with special mentions to Maria (sharing a reflection for the first time), Suzy (leading reflections and exquisite harmonies throughout), Paul (searing harmonies and full throated commitment), Liam (keeping us all together rhythmically and playing with a sensitivity which eclipses most drummers), Clive (rocking out on lead guitar), Paul (enhancing everything with his choice of sounds on keyboards) and Ken (making his debut on bass and immediately capturing the spirit of Tongues of Fire with his infectious enthusiasm and playing).
On of the high points of the event was when Kath and Lyndsey (two ‘Tongues of Firers’ from way back in the days of our ministry at St. Cuthbert’s School) came up and joined us to belt out Sing it in the Valleys! We even threw in an extra verse! (Here’s my demo – but I think we’re moving towards doing our own LIVE album which would undoubtedly feature this.)
Huge thanks to all who attended and for Kim who did the powerpoint for us and David who took some fabulous photos. A mention, too, for June and Ken – prime movers in getting us the invitation. It was great to be back with you!
As mentioned previously, we premiered this setting from 2 Timothy 4!
